(Nasdaq: BCSI - News), the leader in WAN Application Delivery and Secure Web Gateway, today announced that the School District of Palm Beach County has selected and deployed Blue Coat® ProxySG? appliances to accelerate files, educational content and applications across its Wide Area Network (WAN) between its school district headquarters and all of its educational facilities. The 160 site deployment marks one of the largest deployments of WAN optimization for any vendor of WAN optimization equipment to date. The Blue Coat appliances also provide protection from Internet malware and content and application controls to meet local, state and Federal standards and requirements.
With more than 166,000 students and nearly 40,000 connected computers, the School District of Palm Beach County has earned a reputation for utilizing the Internet as a powerful tool for learning and communications. The district is the fifth largest in Florida and the eleventh largest in the nation. Students use Web-based applications for in-class learning, distance learning from home, and online practice for the annual state standardized tests. The county's 21,700 teachers and administrative staff also rely on the Web for research and communications.
160 Sites - a Milestone for WAN Optimization
