BETHEL, Conn., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Memry Corporation (Amex: MRY - News), a leading provider of nitinol and polymer components to the medical device industry, announced today at the 2007 MD&M Minneapolis Expo, the official launch of its new expanded Nitinol Hybrid Tubing product line. This expanded tubing platform, with sizes ranges up to 10mm is the largest diameter and thinnest wall material offered in Memry''s tubing portfolio.
"We have been unofficially marketing and offering this larger diameter nitinol tubing for the past few months," stated Bob Belcher, CEO of Memry Corporation. "Today marks a more official announcement and effort to promote the expanded capabilities this size range of tubing will offer our customers, more specifically for larger peripheral stents, endosurgical and orthopedic instrument and implant applications."
President and COO of Memry, Dean Tulumaris, added, "The Hybrid Tubing brand serves as a bookend to the range of our capabilities in nitinol tubing, which is widely used in a variety of self-expanding stents, guidewires, various catheters and other minimally invasive devices. Earlier this year we introduced our ultra-small diameter V2 tubing, so with these two distinct brands we feel that Memry is well-positioned to offer some of the widest range of tubing sizes, surface finishes and tolerances supplied to the medical device industry."
Through a unique manufacturing process utilizing a double core technique, Memry is able to offer thinner walls and tighter wall thickness control in the manufacture of the Hybrid Tubing.
"Ultimately the driver for any of our product offerings is to provide our customers with expanded design capabilities through the utilization of our technologies. The tighter wall thickness control means more uniform stent strut thickness after laser cutting for example," said Belcher. "Another benefit of this range of sizes now offered through this larger 6 to 10mm diameter platform is that there will be no need for subsequent shape setting heat treatments for certain end use applications."
